Creating a free Website with a custom Domain for FREE.!

Hello everybody,

Hope u read my last post about  recording computer screen live

I'm back again with a post that u all must be so interested in reading.

Well its about having a personal website completely under your control and perfectly free of cost.
It can be a blog or community page or Whatever u want it to be.

Lets Begin with the basic requirements that you will be needing to run a website..

1.) A Domain name like yourname.com etc;

2.) A Web Host to host your web Pages.

Getting a Domain

Domain names are generally registered by paying money but since this post is about getting a website for free i'll be concentrating on it.

There are some free domain providers and some sub-domain providers who let u have them for free. Subdomains unlike domains have some others domain as your tag

for example, yourname.theirname.com  thats how it looks like.

So if its a sub domain u want to place your site then u may be provided one such by your free webhost or to make it look better i recommend trying out "co.cc"

your domain may look like yourname.co.cc which looks far better than yourname.blahblah.com

another advantage of co.cc is it gives full DNS control of your domain which in simple terms lets you add things like Adsense and mail service for ur domain.

Below is co.cc  direct search box for domain availabilty.. try one .

Another free domain service that appeals good is dot.tk service which offers domains with extension .tk

for example, yourname.tk is wat u get from them.

the major disadvantage of  .tk is that u dont get full DNS control which however u may not be needing unless u want to run a mail service or adding adsense.

Below is  free domain .tk banner, Click on it and register ur custom domain name for free.

Part - II WebHost

There are a number of free hosts that are available. A better information about the numerous free hosting sites their rating and features can be found at www.free-webhosts.com. Its a very infornative site and i recommend using it for reference.

As far as this post is concerned i use Byethost. as my web host provider.

Once we register with a free hosting service it may offer us with a sub-domain which in this case is yourname.byethost.com

Note: Some of the free web hosts don't allow custom domain names like .co.cc or .tk . Instead they offer a subdomain in which u can host.

On logging into Byethost account the control Panel looks like this (click on image to magnify)

Just click on Addon domains and a new page appears (click on image to magnify)

there u can see a box provided to type in our domain and below there is something called as name servers.

Name server is the guide that takes a browser to a particular page when the address is typed in.

Now its time to link up the domain name with the host

After registration of the selected domain name Your co.cc control  panel looks just like this (click on image to magnify)

Now we have to go to Modify Domain and hit Set UP Domain. (click on image to magnify)

Since mine is an already configured one it shows the the Nameservers list below otherwise it would have been empty. Now enter the Nameservers as follows for a co.cc domain (click on image to magnify)

Similarly configure .tk nameservers (click on image to magnify)

Now we have succesfully linked up both the domain and host and it generally takes 2 mins to 2 days to link up properly.

Once the  site up and running

Once the site is up and running it displays a message that show link up is succesful.

Byethost offers a list of free list installation scripts using iVista script installer. Some of them include

  • WordPress
  • Joomla
  • Drupal
  • PhpBB Forums
  • Gallery sites.
It also provides a site builder with numerous attracting designs all at a click away....

Hope this post helps you...

Screen recording using camstudio.

Lets kick off with the intro about Camstudio.

Camstudio is an open-source, cross platform (for all operating systems Windows, Mac, Linux and others) and free tool to record screen or desktop of your computer. It also can record live audio either from the speakers or microphone and also comes with a feature to sync or delay the audio and video.

Output video format can be varied to AVI (high quality ) or SWF (low quality generally for web content). However it allows users to use codecs of their choice.

The software and some loss-less good quality codecs can be downloaded from here.

After u download camstudio just install it the regular way and run it.
Now the camstudio opens up and i posted some pics below for u to get it.

As u can see in the picture below it also has the features to record screen in fixed, custom (fixed region that can autopan) regions and also full screen.

I've also posted a  video that can help you to get a insight of what it will look like while recording.

i hope this tutorial will help you to get an idea of what camstudio can do. The best of learning anything is to play around with it and trying it in different ways. Start makig your own video tutorials.
